quote [ [While] these new owners are busy undoing a lot of the goodwill the site originally built up, many of the people who made Adventure Gamers a brilliant place to visit have quietly left the site, building a new destination for adventure games called the Adventure Game Hotspot. This was started by the former Adventure Gamers editor-in-chief Jack Allin back in 2022, and seems to be carrying on the spirit of the website in everything but name. ]
Main link goes to quasi-successor Adventure Game Hotspot. Quote via insightful article on Time Extension. This has been noted in other circles as well and happened rather abrupt.

quote [ despite it trying to appeal to some of the more hardcore Satanic Panic, esoteric goetian mysticism angle with a touch of Mortal Kombat graphics, it doesn?t really go as hard as you?d hope it would. ]
Ok, first, this is a fun game that works well with controllers and gets continued support over multiple platforms + a sequel.

[?] On the same day, Giant Bomb exploded, shedding staff and pausing content production pending a "strategic reset". [?] It is harder than ever to make a video games website successful - although, it must be said, corporate owners are as craven and shortsighted as they've always been. ] Ow, ow, ow. Rock-Paper-Shotgun's "Sunday Papers" column has been often linked by me. This edition is a harsh ride through shuttering outlets and the site's own struggle. Also, Valnet.

quote [ Being a Japanese organisation, the GPS is held hostage by antiquated and draconian Japanese laws.
[?] The tragedy is that the GPS has done so much to preserve Japan's cultural history. It helped a Kyoto kimono factory when its antiquated computers needed repairing. It built on the pioneering work of others to improve methods of preserving LaserDiscs, and wanted to share it with others. There have been a lot of news stories about preserving Japanese mobile phone games, and the GPS has been involved. ] Interesting doc on Japanese retrocomputing archive running out of cash due to complicated national laws and fan expectations even while receiving government funding.
