So, the user logins are tied to a phpbb backend, but that's pretty easy to swap out. It's all very lowest effort possible since I was just making it for my friends. Also, hey 2009 web coding! How're you doing??

That said - I forgot how robust I made it. Lots of roles, randomized roles, nicely written emails to players, etc.

Is mafia, werefwolf, avalon all basically the same game, just with a different skin?

Avalon is a bit different, more complicated, as it has the quest mechanic. Mafia/Werewolf is basically just guess who the bad guys are and kill their guess, then bad guys kill someone in secret, and then good guys guess who the bad guys are, until the bad guys or good guys win.

I do have some mafia code someplace for self-running the game, so there doesn't have to be a "God" character. Need to see if it's still functional.

lmao, maybe not. One of the things I offered when I first brought this site online was to add features to help out with the mafia/etc game management (timers, polls) but no one ever got back to me. We had that one game and then silence for literally years. Personally, I've always thought that SE's style would lend itself to be a good fit for a variation on the BBS Door games of old.

Posted the code below. Probably would be pretty easy to port to PHP since it's all tag based as well. Of course, there is negative security on it though. But the logic and text are there.

That was a wild game, it went so many places I never expected.

Honestly, I cringed each and every time they did that.

And yet, somehow, it was the correct strategy.

Yeah, I don't really know what happened with that. For some reason I started being all shouty, and quickly realized there's no going to back to being subtle and dropping hints. I was sure I was going to get stabbed in the end.

I had no idea what was going on most of the game and was trying to buy some time to sort things out. I was mostly sure Arrow was a baddie early on but I could not tell if the two of you were both baddies and playing at a rivalry.

The way you kept saying you weren't sure but then flatly stated that you thought endo and I were the baddies right after daffy started accusing us, then went back to saying you weren't sure made me think you were the Merlin, daffy stumbled onto the right suspects, and you just popped out to corroborate it before going back into hiding, figuring daffy was being vocal enough about it that you didn't have to risk revealing yourself any further.

I would be be so convinced until you or end said somethings and then I would think "what if I'm wrong? I would be fucking everything up for the rest of my team". Rambo knife must have been getting sick of me changing my vote every five minutes.

I have a question. Was it you who informed Rambo knife about the yea or no votes being public?

And that's why I LOOOOOVE being a regular boring knight. With nothing to lose and no way to hurt anyone, you have a lot of freedom to voice your opinions and really help confuse the baddies.

I think Merlin is my least favorite role. I got lucky this time, but I could've easily fucked the team over with my accusations. I'm not sure I care about the assassin-mechanic either; no matter how well the goodies play, the bad guys can still win with a guess, lucky or not. Ah well.
