Russian woman charged with spying for Moscow by 'infiltrating' NRA

quote [ Maria Butina, 29, met US politicians and candidates to establish ‘back channels’ and secretly reported to Kremlin, DoJ alleges

A Russian woman has been charged with spying for Moscow in the US by infiltrating the National Rifle Association (NRA) in an attempt to influence the Republican party and American politics.
...
Two unidentified Americans, one of them described as a “political operative”, were said in the charging documents to have assisted Butina in her efforts to make political contacts in the US. Neither was charged with a crime. ]

If we live through this shit, this is material for a good movie or mini-series.

It's an improvement on both Romneycare and what was in place before

So it better but shitty? It saved lives but that is shitty too. What it is is the best healthcare system the United States has ...EVER... had and much better than any one we will have for the foreseeable future.

the way the law is set up is such an array of interdependent compromises in order to get it passed that it's difficult or impossible to amend it without causing it to fall apart.

Wrong.

It could be easily amended if one of the parties wasn't trying to amend it with an axe.

It can't evolve into single payer or anything else,

Wrong again. All you have to do is establish a single payer system as a side...we could say call it a "public option". Let it run until people see that the government run insurance can work better. Which is a little counter intuitive seeing as 1/3 of our healthcare is already government run.

You don't have to outlaw private health insurance just give people the option of quality healthcare at a lower price.

The pharmaceutical companies are an entirely different problem. Yes the are the biggest driver of cost and are in great need of regulation...it would be easy because we not only pay for 90 % of their development cost we are their consumers..but there is no will to do anything to kill the golden goose.
