I have an appointment tomorrow to deal MyServices tomorrow.
Have been told by multiple parties that there is a Bereavement Payment for carers and family in Australia. The young {sounded 19} social worker that called me in response to me uploaded a "DOCUMENT" explaining my brothers death. Knew nothing of it. The funeral parlor informed me to claim it to help with cost. I researched again and it's still there but when I looked at teh MYGOV system not a single search result to something as simple as BEREAVEMENT or other terms. Lodged a digital complaint form around midnight. Awake around 9am to the missed call from a MYGOV representative, missed the first; "glad" they called back. {Quickest response in ever!} Explained that the information brochure webpages are slightly vague after he told me no outright payment to help with funeral cost and that I was lucky to get 7 payments minus the ALLOWANCE and that if I auto apply now to any other payment I could be cut off and as I summed it during the call "up shit creek without a paddle.., sorry for the language.". But pointing out that the second sentence of the first paragraph on the Bereavement payment is vague and 5 minute hold to check with manager, yep nope no help. But yea go to your appointment tomorrow and see what they say in center. Awesome will do, and submit the coroners report and deal with all the paper work too hopefully. Yet that young social worker was wondering why I wanted the appointment on the first call. Hell the system is the person or else its just a broken cogged machine. /RANT\OVERSHARE |

It is what it is?
Seemed to go well. There is a bereavement payment. Also had to deal with a separation from a defacto partner. They could of choice a different day other then 3 days after his death. To break the relationship and to get the but I'm pregnant stick and doctor says otherwise. Was what it was. Anyway, life goes one. Side advice don't listen to others sometimes better going to teh horses mouth. We mostly used my brother's car a 1992 Ford Festiva WA 1.3 litre great on fuel but some rust and 30+ year old carpet and the right RPM you can here the car rattle. Went to our version of the DMV. Turns out car doesn't need a Road Worth and I can transfer the rego straight to beneficiary. Splurged and brought a decent 2nd hand car 2010 Great Wall X240. Picked it up for $4000 with rego and an extra "dickie" seat in the back to make it a 6 seater. Bit safer to drive mum around in. But also glad to know I can keep his car on the road, well garage first; give it some TLC Ali G/Hot Rod with a chopped roof in the future or just keep it going. |
