I'm currently being asked to go back and add small features to code I wrote fourteen years ago.
It's hard work because it was clearly written by a imbecile who deserved all of the things that were going to happen to him. |

They say to write your code as though it is going to be maintained by a violent psychopath who knows where you live. Well I've met the psychopath, and it's me.

I had Pool of Radiance for a Laser 128 when I was a child. I never really got to play the game because after leaving town I could never get back. The town just wouldn't load again. MANY years later I discovered the disc was just telling me the wrong disc to insert next (it came on 4 floppies). I picked up the game on GOG at some point and will try it out sometime I get time.

Hell is other people's code, including your own. Stuff I wrote a month ago looks like someone else wrote it, I can't imagine going back 40 years and debugging, I'd go insane.
