I've modified an old TI-83+ with some spare parts from Shiftace's jetpack, and I think I've managed to create a functioning Speculator. After crunching some numbers I have come up with a few candidates. As I'd hate to send an innocent person to their death, regardless of how pleased it will make the gods, I will chose the person who at this points seems most likely. I cast my vote for arch2ngel.

Well, crap. I was going to vote for shiftace, but now he's not only dead, he's proven townie. I have no idea who to vote for. Azazel, for the sole reason that he's at the top of the list of the living. If you guys come up with someone better, I'll switch.

It's been long enough that I don't even remember who I voted for last time. Not complaining, though, Capn; I've long struggled with paralyzing telephone anxiety.

I guess it's time to dive into the murk of scripts for SE, specifically those for Mafia. Can anyone point me to the basics? I've seen references to them for many years, but never bothered. I'm mostly a Firefox user.

This is the old mafia script for the old SE. Perhaps someone who knows more about these things than I do can adapt it for the new SE as a stopgap. I believe steele's got enough on his plate with the site so it will probably be a while til we get something like this implemented on the site itelf.

Was I removed from the game? I don't see my name in the list of players anymore... (For the record, I didn't ask to be, and definitely still intend to play. I'll assume it was an accident, since my name was at the very end of the list, and continue playing under this assumption.)

I was pretty sure it was a mistake. You might be a little disappointed that I voted to throw you to your painful and fiery death, but I never for one second took you for a quitter.

I'd like to hear some of the rationale that went into snuffing Brat#3, since even if it wasn't correct, it was true.

From day 3:

Concerning day 2 vote: When I put in my vote, there were still some others left to be made. If they had wanted to change the tide and vote to sacrifice Brat#3, they could have done so. Brat#3 was at that point, the only vote aside from -_- that wouldn't have been a throwaway.

Concerning day 3 vote: I think whether Brat#3 turns out to be town or mafia, it's going to answer more questions in the long run concerning various peoples behaviors. Some people seem invested in defending Brat, and others are being seen as mobbing her. It is at this point the most sensible vote to make if you want to figure out whats actually going on.

My vote today is based on arch2ngel's outspoken refusal to lynch brat#3. As for the future, I need to decide if I want to continue basing my votes on brat#3 connections. It depends on how today turns out. I suppose that's why I built my Speculator.

Because this game moves too slowly for me to remember. I only voted the first day actually, please kill me.

I wouldn't mind the long days at all if the game had a theme and flavor text to engage with and people were getting into those little role-playing exchanges that don't really affect the outcome but still give you a reason to check the thread a couple times a day to see what's going on. But in a bare-bones game like this where there's nothing to do but vote once a day and wait to see what happens, it's really easy to put it off or forget about it when the days are so long.

A foster dog ate my internet cable, so I could only browse on my phone for most of the week while I waited for my ISP to send someone out to fix it. I missed the post at first, and when I finally saw it I thought, "Huh, I guess I should vote on that some day" and then promptly forgot about it again.
