quote [ "Late-capitalistic semantic drain" sounds like its own uniquely hellish bullshit neologism. But I swear it does mean something: the lack of meaning spreading through English, driven by a corporate monoculture devoted solely to profit. ]

I'd be willingto bet the viral-like adoption of gamification to manipulate behavior is also a major drive behind terms like rockstar, rebel, etc being used to overlay a more enticing narrative over the silicon valley bullshit. It's basic, but it works, and they'll beat that horse into mush.
