There's a Hole... There's a Hole.

quote [ National security officials have been notified that an underground tunnel was discovered near a venue for this summer's Pan Am Games in Toronto, CBC News has learned. ]

I live next to York and have both worked there and gone there for two degrees.
It doesn't surprise me.
It's unusual, but just doesn't surprise me.
I have no idea what the tunnel might have been used for - heck it could be an excavation of the people digging the subway there so they can avoid the commute to work.
Is it probably a bit of terrorism or something leading up to it?
I doubt it. It isn't even actually going under the buildings.
- just weird.

The tunnel was dug in the woods near Toronto's Rexall Centre and York University's Keele campus. It was large enough for a person to stand in, at around 2? metres in height, and was about seven metres long. The tunnel had lights inside, powered by a generator, and the walls and ceiling were reinforced.

After 24 hours of nonstop local coverage, I've realized that the news here is just as embarrassingly sensationalist as the US news I always felt we were better than. I'm sorry, America, for being all smug and Canadian and shit.

During the California world series earthquake they literally showed the same 3 worst scenes over and over again. Nothing but those scenes. They had also reported the entire bay bridge had fallen. It's like "Look out the fucking window" it's still (mostly) standing.

American news is highly highly sensationalist- and I think maybe that's rooted in the 24 hour news cycle.

The only thing more sensationalist than American news is Russian news about America.

palestinian studies.??
Oh not at York.
But then we did have a bunch of idiot fucks about 10 years ago running around with stupid shirts.
"If this was a suicide bomb you would be dead."

I DO like the fact that these jerks would be charged now. And I consider myself pretty pro free speech.

Is it was a suicide bomb, in all probability it would have been detonated previously. Or if the wearer didn't detonate it previously, they would be more likely to detonate in the future than at the exact time you are close to the wearer. So not just annoying, but (if not completely inaccurate) a vast overstatement of fact.

Not much of a tunnel.
