James Hiram Bedford: The First Person To Be Cryogenically Preserved

quote [ Will humans ever posses the technology to revive a dead person back to life? Dr. James Hiram Bedford certainly hopes so. He has been waiting for that day for the last fifty years frozen in a lab at the Alcor Life Extension Foundation. ]

So you can have me frozen cryogenically for centuries

I think that misconception people make is assuming that other people in the future are going to want to bring them back to life.

In fact, considering the damage we are doing and the improverished, denatured environment we are leaving to our descendents in the future, I would go to a lot of effort to stop them getting their vengeful hands on me.

Circus/museum attraction?

Sampling the eras fauna/flora for science?

I am sure there is a ton of indirect value but Iā€™m reckon that said person would not have to be brought back to life to benefit from it.

Like thinking of mummies now.

I'd rather face their justice than be dead.

Those two outcomes might be rather similar.

Good one sir, that's a point I'd never considered in all of this cryo malarkey.

Even beyond the potential vengeance aspect why would anyone in the future ever think "hey, I really want to expend my own resources to give this handful of greedy rich frozen assholes from the past yet another chance to mindlessly consume everything they see"?

To have them hunt down another thawed person that went berzerk with weapons from a museum of course! I think I saw it in a documentary somewhere.

"I don't know... thanks."

Best line in that movie is at the very start from the lil girl stallone saves.

Would we want to bring back a greedy rich frozen asshole from the 18th Century, if we could?

"I like not the automotive contraptions that congregrate upon the street. Have them removed immediately, and the riders soundly thrashed. But the wench in the Bow Street Runner uniiform excites us. Toss the harlot a soverign and have her throughly scrubbed and taken to our rooms."

Future Guy - "Good morning - your stocks, bonds and money were liquidated by your family 30 years ago. You're broke, but I did pay the money to have you revived"
-
80's Guy - "Oh that was nice of you thanks." (Attempts to stand up and swoons a little before sitting back down)
-
Future Guy - "Whoa; careful there pal. You've been asleep for a long time so rest up. Don't want to put any stress on your heart."
-
80's guy - "Oh; what a relief! So...something was wrong with my heart then?"
-
Future Guy - (lightly chuckling) "Oh - no. Something is wrong with mine. Hold on - stay calm, don't get worked up..."
