I just watched The Rescuers online, for the first time since my parents took me to see it at the cinema when I was 5. I could only remember one scene from the movie - the little girl begging a skeleton not to keep flashing lights at her from its skull, before it turns out to be the diamond she was sent in to find is lodged inside. I re-watched it and the scene played out completely differently. No long drawn out gothic horror. No pleading. They just find the diamond.
For 45 years I had a false memory in my head.
