quote [ And the winner is...
Bob Dylan “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”. ] "Wow!" [quote from another Nobel]
A fine example of Jungian synchronicity, if ever there was one (see my last post): the jester passes the baton to the minstrel.
He's there (by the way, it's the only part of the movie worth watching):
...but he's not there: Ballad of a thin man - I am not there

If by new poetic expressions you mean barely intelligible hee-hawing, nasal droning, then yes.
Don't get me wrong, his lyrical content is actually pretty good... but how he sings it, sometimes I feel I need a translator. |

You're perfectly right, but when I posted it was one of the very few sources. Thanks for the links.

Sigh.. My sister will love this and i enjoy some of his songs.. My first concert was Dylan and Willie Nelson (sister dragged me along but i adore Willie nelson) I've heard of him being the greatest lyricist but some of its just nonsense

He's one of those singer/songwriters that I wonder if they wouldn't "click" for me if someone else was singing their songs. Dylan, Neil Young, a lot of Mick Jagger (think "Ruby Tuesday"), etc. are people who are lauded for their songwriting talent but whose delivery often grates on my nerves.

"The priest dances on the seventh day
Watching the temple fall" - Now if Dylan didn't write that line Would it still mean nothing at all? |

He was the write in candidate.
I have only seen Mr Zimmerman once live....but what a show. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_Thunder_Revue |

I was confused for a second because I always forget that literature is Nobel category and I couldn't figure out what impact Dylan's mumbling might have had on peace or the sciences.

Don't know Murakami but I have passed over Atwood dozens of times. In fact, if I see her walking towards me on the street, I cross to the other side.

Murakami is deserving. I like Dylan but...yeah, Murakami would be my call.

That's cool, I guess, though Dylan doesn't need recognition. He's in a class by himself.

The Watchmen movie is no good? Because that clip looks pretty good.

I'd put Watchmen into the same category as most Zach Snyder films. Some good individual scenes but it struggles to make a coherent movie when you cut them all together.
