quote [ Jazz musician Horace Silver, a composer known for pioneering hard bop, has died [...] He was 85. ]

Horace Silver was one of the stalwarts of hard bop, playing with basically everyone, but especially Hank Mobley, Art Blakey, and fronting The Jazz Messengers himself. His playing was more melodic and whimsical than coldly theoretical.

But it's his stuff with Miles Davis I love, especially this album, Workin'

Here's the Silver track you might know, Song for My Father.

'Song For My Father' sounds like the music I'm forced to listen to while on hold to talk to whatever useless Indian person shit-ass Comcast has hired to "help" me with my problem. It inadvertently made me furious.
