If the interview with the woman who was part of the Revolution's literacy program interests you, there's a book by Margaret Randall called Women in Cuba: 20 Years Later that talks about these sort of programs the revolution got up to and how it transformed their society from what was essentially enslavement to one with the highest literacy rates and advanced healthcare in the world.
