Does The 'Cats' Film Use 'Digital Fur Technology' — Or Animation?

quote [ if there’s anything we learned from the new Lion King, film studios will be evasive about their techniques to hide the fact that a film is animated. ]

Who's the real artist here?

Bonus:

Still working on it
Steven Spielberg stopped production in 1995

That blog is one cool animation industry source.

Can we safely assume that everyone who goes to see this movie is a furry?

Not necessarily. There are anthropomorphic cockroaches in it too.

So...is it mocapped or edited? The article doesn't say.

The article was posted when only the trailer was around. The general point is that even motion capture has to be heavily edited and prepared/processed by animators, making the actual motion footage just a small part in the final product. It's an animated film, though the marketing tries to sell it as a live action one.

It's definitely mocap, but not in the same level as Marvel Studios' technology.

It's an animated film, but they wanted to submit the performers for Oscar nominations, hence the floating faces. It's a rush job on a $100million budget to get it ready by Christmas time.

I think I have spent more time looking at reviews of this movie than the actual run time of the movie. This is my favorite. Give it 5 minutes:
