“Because you have the right to have a Secretary of Defense whose views are better aligned with yours on these and other subjects, I believe it is right for me to step down from my position.” ] After the out of the blue announcement of the withdrawal in Syria followed shortly the announcement of the withdrawal from Afghanistan Mattis seems to have had enough.
Standing on the precipitous of a goveremnt shutdown over funding for a Mexican border wall these moves by Trump seem bizarre and are in direct opposition of the Republican party , the military, and inelegance agencies.
This is beyond the "normal" Trump weirdness. (It is getting hard to even say that) It looks like Trump is going to close down the goveremnt over the wall that Mexico is suppose to pay for, then go to Florida for a few weeks of golf. He has changed defense deployments by tweet with no prior notice or consultation with the pentagon the joint chiefs or congress...Merry Christmas, world. The reason for the sudden switch is obvious. Conservative media turns on Trump for going wobbly on the wall Fox News, Breitbart and others have stuck with Trump through almost everything — but the wall is different. His true constituency "Conservative Media" turned on him. My question is what is going to happen when he eventfully has to back down..because he will not get funding even through a Republican congress. Even though it has passed the house it will never get through the Senate...it will not get one Democratic vote. There will be a few back and fourths in DC but most of DC has gone or getting ready to go home...this is headed to a brick wall (pun intended). Trump has to blink or accept the consequences...pay the devil to the left (His base) or the devil to the right (the 70% that is the rest of us.) He has never faced anything like the pressure he is about to face...and he look like he is about to crack now.

The more I hear about this the worst it sounds. I looks like the reason we are getting out of Syria is because Turkey said they are going to attack the Kurds , you know our allies the people who fought with us from day one when the Turks wouldn't.

I think it is a whole lot more likely it goes the other way around and the military are the ones to hold the coup. I don't think it has gotten to that point yet but this is the wake up call. To many have died to maintain the world order to let Trump destroy it for profit.
Not at all sure what the military is going to do. There may be more resignations. But this is not over. |

I was in Afghanistan back in ‘04 and this rash, unplanned pullout is going to have absolute horrific consequences for us geopolitically and the people of Syria and Afghanistan. The Kurds are most certainly going to be slaughtered by the Turks and I fear that there will be all out war in Afghanistan. The President is not fit to serve the office he holds. Jeez - talk about a bunch of suckers. Even if you multiply 80 by the 39 million that actually voted for the orange turd (and half of them were voting against Clinton and not for trump) you only get 3.12 billion. Only 77 billion left to go...
Of course - little things like reading and using a simple pocket calculator are huge things to ask though. |

They do. Blue states pay the taxes that support red state welfare. Democratic presidencies bring the economy up, while so-called fiscal conservatives crash it while bitching about the economy. But then, when have you ever let reality get in the way of one of your tired talking points?

I mean they already did. Donald was a fringe protest candidate. Nothing about him is main stream politician, but he was happy to sell the rubes the snake oil they needed. If the DNC fucks around and anoints a candidate that doesn't address healthcare, income inequality, and the environment we'll get another demagogue.

And there are going to be more than 20 Dems running there will be many different plans to chose from.
