Roger Waters broadcasts cancelled in Germany over support for Israel boycott

quote [ German public broadcasters have dropped plans to air concerts next year by ex-Pink Floyd musician Roger Waters, citing what they call “accusations of antisemitism against him”. ]

I see this as a pretty blatant example of "antisemitism" being used to bludgeon free and fair criticism.

If Pink Floyd had a history of antisemitism, than okay, but as far as I know they are not and have never been Nazi sympathizers. Hey, what do I know .. maybe I'm just reading the lyrics wrong ..

Opposing the actions of the political state of Israel is no more antisemitic than opposing the political state of Russia is anti-Eastern Slavic, or opposing the trainwreck of the current Unites States government is anti-American.

I hate liver, but love cow. It's the same deal, just on a much grander, more-convoluted scale.

"As if Israel gives a fuck what you or any other pansy leftist thinks."

Israel can and does ban entry to people who have voiced support for the same group Waters supported. I think it's petty and ultimately counterproductive but that's their right. But here we're talking the German public broadcaster refusing to air his concert citing the same reasons.

I'd put that in the same box as NPR refusing to air an interview with a Ai WeiWei because the Chinese government felt he expressed unflattering views about China.

And another one that I can't seem to find - A woman was hired and then fired from a state government job when she refused to sign a pledge to Israel and against BDS. This is some truly dangerous shit. And it's not just in Germany.

I think this debate really stems from a lack of principles. I clarified mine a few years ago by using a simple tool: Google Maps

It's pretty clear who is in the wrong when you realize the dividing line between those two obviously distinct lands is a militarized fence and few if any of those living inside the concentrated area are allowed to leave.
