HP Lovekraftwerk seems to think this has something to do with being gay or straight, with is bizarre, and you seem to think you have “to make an effort to present as female” – which is likewise totally irrelevant.

Moreover, courts have increasingly found that discrimination against transgender people is sex discrimination.
