What Would It Mean to See a New Color?

quote [ A new color called olo can be described as the “greenest green.” It can never be captured by a camera, but its development tells us a lot about how vision works. ]

I know I can see farther into the UV and IR ranges than most people. There is a color beyond red that is difficult to explain. It looks like copper, gold, and red mixed together to create a new metallic red color. I know this is infrared light and looking at cameras with the IR on its like a slite almost dead flashlight.

Roughly 350–330 nanometers, we enter the ultraviolet range. To me, it appears as a purplish-black color with a metallic, graphite-like quality. When I was 19, I completed a full-spectrum color test and discovered that I could see a wider range of colors, including some shades of yellow that most people could not see.

What sucks is that although I can see the full visible spectrum and a little beyond it, I also have worsening astigmatism.
