I get that minor languages are inconvenient or impractical, but it still makes me sad that so few people speak Basque, Gaelic, Icelandic, Faroese, and so on

(What are some examples from other parts of the world? There are things like Navajo of course, and there must be obscure languages of Africa, South America, and Asia too, like Xhosa)
