quote [ The Carolina Manga library is a nonprofit charity organization based in Southern United States. They are a mobile library that promotes the use of graphic novels, comics, and Japanese manga as tools for improving literacy. ]
Reported by my local library. It's nice to see that there are still people promoting books instead of banning them. I thought it was interesting that there were people rallying together to champion their favorite type of literature and the roving library concept was neat too.

My "local" comic book store underwent a change a few years back and they turned their attentions to a largely untapped group of manga customers.
Schools. They either ship or broker shipping and sales of comics and manga to most of the schools (all levels) not only of the city or province but I think the country as well. They also have a yearly independent press (mostly) comic convention. It's not a "dress up as Spider-Man" convention but more centred on sales, and the artists. I think that the "manga invasion" has been great for efforts of educators and motivating literacy. |
