quote [ Life is short, as everyone knows. When I was a kid I used to wonder about this. Is life actually short, or are we really complaining about its finiteness? Would we be just as likely to feel life was short if we lived 10 times as long?
Since there didn't seem any way to answer this question, I stopped wondering about it. Then I had kids. That gave me a way to answer the question, and the answer is that life actually is short. ] I came across this the day before Chadwick died so it was still rumbling around in my head when I read it.
I think the main argument against this piece is that it's ok to waste time if you need to waste time or want to waste time, that's ok too. It's your life.
But you should be deliberate and mindful that's what you want to do, rather than it being a default reaction to filling time until something forces you to action.

Covid-19 has brought that awareness of mortality a lot closer to the surface. I just reset the neck on my oldest brother's guitar, and I remember thinking I need to hurry up and get this back to him before something bad happens to one of us. I feel like we're living week to week right now, between the plague and approaching insurrection.
