Google Popping Sensible Erection to Endowment

quote [ Would you hotlink http://sensibleendowment.com from your website or elsewhere using "Sensible Erection"? ]

From my browser, googling "Sensible Erection" currently places Sensible Endowment as 20th, rising since Endowment conception due to Google bots finding Erection pages down, sensibly. Also SE HTML hotlinking to Sensible Erection using http://sensibleendowment.com along with mixed online chatter.

If others join in, we should quickly boost Google results to help recapture our MIA and hook new members, promote. Be sure to submit newly hotlinked pages to Google Bots for quicker crawling. All may join the cause by linking to Sensible Erection on blogs and comment sections of sites you feel should benefit, slipping this code into comment:

Googling sensible erection and then clicking on the link to sensible endowment instead of any others should help increase the rank of the new site as well.
Ankylosaur said @ 5:37pm GMT on 8th Mar
Pretty sure it won't help, otherwise SEO people would be paying large numbers of poor foreigners to do it. Google rankings are based on links to a site weighted by where the links came from.

As a matter of fact, that's almost exactly what they do. Only they pay a large number of americans to do it because google weights it by geolocation. It happens to be a big industry on amazon's mturk. Page rank is only a small part of google's weighting measures nowadays.
steele said @ 5:49pm GMT on 8th Mar
To clarify, the old page rank system is a small part of google's current weighting measures.

This is my Google search for Sensible Erection with Endowment at the bottom of the second page. Tomorrow or the next few, I hope it will rise with some effort.

Alas, it has slipped to page three! But your handy SE HTML is hit number five. Thanks for the nice re-directing note at the top of the page.

It's ranked differently for everyone. SE HTML is first place for me, beating SE Original.

If you go to the gear icon on a google search result page and choose "search settings", then choose "don't use private results", it should give you standardized search results. At least that's what they say. I can't stand that personalized search results garbage. Plus it screws up my work.

Yup, about the same for me. I have all cookies auto deleted on quit and I don't use a google account, so I imagine I'm seeing close to what the "pure" results should be.

As good a place to ask as any, does anyone knw if there is going to be a new Sensible Facial going up? I just did a find/replace on my current script and it works, but I'm curious and can't recall what's still got people working on it.
steele said @ 4:26pm GMT on 8th Mar
Most of the facial features will be implemented into code of the new site. It's just going to take me some time. And by time I don't mean years or anything, just a month or two ;)
ComposerNate said @ 4:30pm GMT on 8th Mar
I tried Facial and did not care for the brazenness, using instead highlighter for friends and myself. Also various jerk filters.

I'll try and keep most of optional in the profile settings. I used the cockbiter script as well, may add that. Still not sure how I feel about having an ignore ability built in. I'm considering it though. Just of mixed minds about it.

Agreed. The only time an account should be blocked is when it's being used to repeatedly spam, post illegal content or to embed additional code into the age, which is much more difficult to do on this site. I have no doubt steele has no issue with dealing with that kind of thing. My feeling is that it's the internet, there are going to be people disagree with, and people you flat-out don't like. Automatically deleting everything a person says is not only petty, it's counter to the whole idea of community.

I am working on making Facial work with this site. I've just now got the usernames to show up by replacing "a[1]" with "a[2]" in the definition "var authors" at line 1548.

When I've got it working satisfactorily (currently mod/reply link at bottom of comments does not work, nor do the hover events on the score or username) I will post about it.

Hopefully steele intends to move the site away from the cockamamie table-based layout and make more use of classes / ids for page elements; this will enable userscripts like Facial to deprecate the getNodes() function, simplifying matters a great deal.

There's a lot of stuff in Facial is probably better not integrated into the site. For example, the theme-selection features are IMO best done on the client side.

If anyone else is also working on Facial and wants to combine our efforts, please PM me and we can work on it. Also I'll contact steele about it when I've got my thoughts in order; it will be a lot easier to maintain client-side userscripts when we know what the site admin has planned in terms of layout / markup changes.
steele said @ 3:09am GMT on 10th Mar
I don't know that I agree that things like themes are best done client side. After all, if I'm planning to move towards html5, themes would be pretty simple to be managed and shared via server side. Maybe I'm missing something?

I hope to make the need for client side scripts obsolete, but I am more than happy to make the site as friendly as possible for them to come about.

Hey if you include the phrase "Sensible Erection" in the title meta tags as well as the meta description, I bet you'd see much higher results for those searching that phrase. It could be something like "Sensible Endowment formerly Sensible Erection" or some shit. Also, include the text "Sensible Erection" somewhere in the body of the site, like the sidebar.

Annnnd now I look up to see the current meta title ...lol
