My introduction to LARP people was something like 20 years ago (interestingly, that's also the date pinned at urbandictionary.com). We were standing in front of this youth club when a guy introduced me to his subversive vampire faction thing.
Upon telling him that he looked pretty normal, he went like: “That's the point! Vampires blend in. I needed to borrow all these clothes from my brother because I only own black metal gear.” So he was not only roleplaying a vampire but also roleplaying a more average teen.
