“It’s unmanageable”: How the vinyl industry reached breaking point

quote [ Every time a new record is pressed, a plate must be changed. Therefore, it makes economic sense for plants to prioritise major label orders, which tend to be large quantities of the same record, compared with an indie order, which may require several plate changes before a run is complete. ]

Oh well, this looks worse than last time. Buy CDs instead?

As long as CDs are mastered properly, they sound better than records. Maybe in 20 years, CDs will have the same resurgence that records are having now.

hear, hear

You Should Listen to CDs

If vinyl is for hipsters and streaming is for everyone else, maybe the forgotten format is for you.

This is true but it's also like saying that "With the right tools, you can paint a better picture digitally than with paint."

The analog flaws and process of playing the record are part of the experience as well. Which you probably know but you know, it's the internet, and what else can you do but argue and/or be pedantic about things that are trivial?

I understand some people like records because they're cool. All the various aspects of records contributes to their coolness, including their flaws. I was only saying that with CDs, you can have more accurate sound reproduction. But if that's not what you're after, that's cool, too.
