Dutch officials seize ham sandwiches from British drivers

quote [ Officials wearing high-visibility jackets are shown explaining to startled car and lorry drivers at the Hook of Holland ferry terminal that since Brexit, “you are no longer allowed to bring certain foods to Europe, like meat, fruit, vegetables, fish, that kind of stuff.”

To a bemused driver with several sandwiches wrapped in tin foil who asked if he could maybe surrender the meat and keep just the bread, one customs officer replied: “No, everything will be confiscated. Welcome to Brexit, sir, I’m sorry.” ]

Welcome to Brexit, Sir! Bahahahahaha!!
if only we could come up with a similar way to hamper the rabid Q and Trump fanbois

Hunger is too good for them.

Why not fruit and veggies? Because they may have been fertilized with animal waste?

To control the spread of agricultural pests and diseases, primarily. With a unified policy on the matter it wouldn't matter, but now that the UK can set their own rules for such things Europe has no guarantee that those agricultural products continue to adhere to European standards.

Actually, it seems you can bring fruit and veg, generally. I presume because it had been made into a sandwich with the meat that the officer insisted on the whole thing being confiscated.

If you travel to the EU from a non-EU country, you are not allowed to bring any meat or dairy products with you. You can however bring a limited quantity of fruit and vegetables as well as eggs, egg products and honey. Restricted quantities of fish or fish products are also allowed.

Thanks! That's all great to know. Enough clients pay me GBP cash that I usually grocery shop big in the UK, bring home to my bunker.

Yeah, but you must have some, you know, smuggling compartments in the van.

A human rectum can only hold so many sandwiches.

You may find it holds significantly more if you insert them from the opposite direction.

The Mercedes Sprinter cabin bench lifts out and up to reveal two storage compartments, a bit of a trick to open and somehow few people know about it. I've never had authorities look there when searching my cabin, and usually seem surprised if I open it. More often one is for my dirty laundry and the other for fresh clothes, sometimes client's household plants or other fragiles, but maybe 60ltrs of soy milk can be stowed there.
