Everything You Need To Know About Getting Back Into Tumblr

quote [ This tension of insularity is at least partly the company’s fault, and a big part of why Tumblr never meaningfully grew or monetized after its initial boom period at the turn of the decade. It remains popular in the sense that people use it, but it’s just… around, no longer accessibly special in a way that demands our attention. ]

Yes, they mean it (☜ quote source) – and ironically these instructions were posted on Substack (☜ New Yorker article).

So, I abandoned tumblr when they started cracking down on porn & nudity, but didn't crack down on racists posts at the same time. If that's not fixed, why should I go back to tumblr?

Verizon owns it now, I believe

The crack down on porn was bad and removed a lot of people I followed from the site, even those who weren't involved in adult material. That said I find it's still one of the better sites for finding lgbt discussions, despite Verizon's mis-management.

Reddit and twitter primarily, with a smaller amount going to discord or more specific sites.
