The BBC is releasing over 16,000 sound effects for free download

quote [ In the archive, you’ll be able to access such samples as; “South American parrot talking and screeching,” “14 month old baby boy, drinking, saying some words,” and “1966 F.A. Cup Final, half-time whistle.” ]

I like how you can trigger multiple sounds at the same time.

I am having way too much fun with this. I'm impressed that they have sound clips of the same forest, but one clip is at dusk and the other dawn. Top notch.

SOUND OF RADAR ECHOES FROM THE MOON. C'mon, you can't beat this.

They recorded that one in the future by mistake, so the copyright hasn't even been filed yet.

FYI: these are free for non-commercial use, but if you should want to use one for commercial purposes, most of them can be bought from ProSoundEffects for $5 apiece (and they have bulk discounts).
