I guess this is like oily rags catching fire, but I never understood why that would happen but the concentrated oil itself wouldn't do the same.

Surface area and oxidation. Oxidation releases heat (what is a fire, after all, but a rapid oxidation), and the greater the surface area you give it the faster it oxidizes. Concentrated oil just doesn't have a large surface area compared to oily rags or loose nuts.

You want real fun? Cotton bales and hay bales can spontaneously combust due to the heat of rotting. You want more, grain dust in silos is essentially a giant fuel-air bomb that can flatten towns if it ignites.

Also re: oily rags, this is especially dangerous with so-called "drying oils" like linseed oil. Which is a problem because linseed oil is often used as a wood finish and it's commonly applied by wiping it on with a rag. It's also used in oil paint.

I recall a gas pipe leak many years ago that was discovered to be less lethal the time they found it. The cellar was so saturated with gas that the amount of oxygen wasn't sufficient anymore to incite it.

According to my sister, she gave a friend her first ever pastachio (those were more primitive times, but my Dad is into nuts) and her friend said "There's something wrong with this one. It's gone green!"
