Makes abundantly clear that Trump's ilk and the local guy busted for price-gouging hand sanitizer are birds of a feather, unable or unwilling to understand why profiting from people's needs in an emergency is unethical. Only difference between them is scope.

There's all sorts of national security law (nationalizing companies, seizing intellectual property, etc) that could come into play here. From both sides. Though primarily a potential temptation for the Germans at this point. In times like these, if governments really want to, companies and their products can be seized and put to a national government's use.
