Throw It In The Pile

quote [ The résumé, a document that largely gained prominence in the past half-century, was once a key part of getting a job. Soon, it might just disappear entirely. ]

I got hustlin' on my resume

My first job required a hand-written application letter along with a CV. I later learnt that the content of the letter was less important than the clarity of the handwriting, the structure of the text and the accuracy of the spelling and punctuation. This was the early 90's where personal computers with word processing software and versions of spell-check and grammar-check were becoming, if not ubiquitous, readily accessible and the job was as a copyeditor. They really just wanted to know whether or not you 'gave good text' before interviewing you.

Very few of my positions have involved a resume. Maybe none, but I'm not sure. If you need one, you're not in anyone's network and you're at the bottom of the pile.
