In a similar vein, sometimes I wonder if some of the big names in the industry pushing for more representation of women in the field is less about equality and increased talent pool to draw from, and more about how when women make up a larger percentage of a field, the value of that field's work tends to decrease despite the tasks remaining the same or increasing in importance.

Good point! Was hearing the same about the medical sector, where women took foot while wages sank.
