Her Amazon Purchases Are Real. The Reviews Are Fake.

quote [ Earlier this year, one woman stumbled into a side hustle that’s resulted in hundreds of free Amazon products, worth tens of thousands of dollars. ]

As someone that uses reviews, I hate these people.

I...don't blame her. It's despicable and repugnant however a free kit is free kit. In this era of people not trusting one another, why rock the boat and make honest choices when little lies can net you a 4th vegetable peeler?

She is merely a symptom to a much larger and more important illness.

The illness of people wanting 4 vegetable peelers?

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

She's not a symptom, she's precisely one of the contributing reasons why people don't trust one another. That didn't just happen by accident.

See, the question is, do we blame the enablers? She couldn't exist without someone giving her the option. Sure, shes bad and the behavior is too, but how guilty is someone taking what is easily gotten, especially if there is no obvious victim?

I don't know, I think I blame Amazon for not preventing this.

If I say “I’ll give you $50,000 to lie about my taxes” and you agree, we’re both guilty.

Amazon should be better about enforcing their rules, if only for their own credibility, but Amazon is also pretty blasé about all the counterfeiters selling crap on their website. Amazon is a pretty shitty company in general.

Agreed.

Sometimes, you can tell when a product listing has fake reviews. If the first 10 or so reviews are all short, 5 star, and don't mention any specifics about the product, the manufacturer paid for fake reviews. Don't buy the product.

If you could get free stuff just by telling people the stuff is great, wouldn't you? Sure, it harms society, but you get free stuff!
