I remember kids news commercials coming on in between the acne programs. Nothing better to build a kid's self-esteem then reminding them every morning that they are oil machines with defective faces.

Advertisers spend their careers telling adults that they're defective. Why should kids be treated any differently?

A bit out of topic: I remember watching cable in NYC and the news on Channel One and wondering how come normal television channels start with channel two instead of one. Anybody knows?

"Television was still sharing some of its frequencies with radio services. The FCC warned that interference problems were imminent if the situation was not resolved soon; the agency then followed up that warning by ruling that television could no longer share frequencies with radio services".
And that reminded me that when I was a kid, I was able to listen to channel 8 (later 9), and 13 of Mexican TV stations, on an FM radio. I even marked the frequencies on my portable radio so I would listen to them, particularly at night, when I would be watching TV with the sound off, so my mom would not find me watching some cheesy horror movie at 1:00 am. |
