quote [ Figuring out how to run a sustainable anarchist household (that values time spent washing the dishes and time spent making money as a computer programmer equally) isn't as headline-grabbing as a downtown smashup. ]
Is it getting hot or what?

Valuing time spent washing dishes the same as time spent earning money as a professional makes no sense. It means you aren't valuing the time it took to develop those skills at all.

Mhh, while I too have a hard time agreeing with some of the opinions, this one made some sense to meβ isn't the whole point to step down from the cleverness of value calculation?

That is itself still a value calculation, though. Just one that's even more unjust than the capitalist one.
I can see it making sense if that dishwasher was there for the programmer while they were in school, and for their first few jobs while they weren't making much (and through the startup failures et cetera where they made nothing). And, of course, took on half the student debt they'd accumulated. |
