Is automating a terrible job a bad thing? The problem isn't automation but this idea that everyone has to be employed to exist and that we should have 8+ hour work days.

I am not the only person who would be willing to subsidize giving someone a nice little apartment and an XBox to just get out of the way so I can do my job unimpeded by incompetence.

I agree with you. Automating jobs isn't a bad thing. Automating jobs after personally attacking the social safety nets that a post-work society would require, is a bad thing.

Is a movie really why or is it that the pool of able employees grew as we became more tech literate? The only QA I've done in recent history was breaking a website for a tech company by just doing everything I and every other nerd would do by default.

I found their site did not work well in Edge (nice nickname you gave yourself, Explorer, but we all remember your real name). I noted this but that their market would use Chrome or Firefox so it really didn't matter; they concurred.

In theory, what I did was a monkey job that could be scripted. Having it click all links and open in new tab is easy, and fortunately the tech already exists to have it click videos and see if they load, though it's probably cheaper to have a human being check that the videos are the correct sorts of videos... for now.

My ex is in data entry and thinks that is a real career. He just copies information from one form to another because the forms don't play nicely with eachother. His job could easily be scripted away but his employers are both too cheap and too stupid to do so. The data fields never change so all it would take is one person hand-identifying the fields one time to make the forms transfer. That isn't why we broke up, but it's a contributing factor and not a bad reason on its own.

You can't just try all the things every nerd would do, you also have to try all the things that you desperately want to believe no one would ever be stupid enough to do. AI can figure out the nerd stuff, but I don't think Artificial Stupidity will ever be as dumb as the real thing.

In this instance anyone using the site is someone who knows about FPGAs, which means it was all nerds. On a site with forms I would try little Bobby Droptables and Ms. Null to emulate malicious nerds.
