There's Now A New Explanation For That Creepy Space Thing Scientists Thought Could Be Aliens

quote [ It looks like Earthlings will not be taking any alien visitors to their leaders any time soon. According to astronomers at Yale University and the California Institute of Technology, the mysterious ‘Oumuamua interstellar space object might be a comet after all, according to YaleNews, and not an alien spacecraft like Harvard astrophysicists theorized. ]

Sort of followup to RIX post back in November. Also - there is a pretty interesting paper from Cornell U that proposes that Oumuamua might be a fragment left over from the destruction of a planet by an FRB event

Next they'll tell us it isn't a planet and that it had feathers! #NotMyOumuamua

That Cornell paper is an absolute farce. Alien terraformers, dyson sphere "VADERs"... wtf? Is peer review totally broken, or is this an April Fool's paper? FRBs are quite suitably explained by neutron star collapse. I don't see why we need to reach for the Mantrid option...

This is how they work. They like to lure you into a state of calm. I, for one, am still on high alert.

We were lucky that we hadn't killed off all the humpback whales just yet.
