Happy Birthday, Quentin Tarantino!

quote [ "...Tarantino is a director who can make gruesome deaths and spilt guts look incredibly stylish." ]

I don't usually put in H.B. posts, but, I do love me some Quentin. Plus it's getting pretty bleak with only obituaries being posted.

If You Were Born Today, March 27
You are self-willed and sometimes forceful or blunt in your expression. In some ways, you are a go-getter and certainly ahead of your time. Your manner tends to command respect, but also hides a sensitive and reflective nature. For the most part, you need to work under your own direction. As determined and independent as you are, you very often put loved ones' needs first.
Oh, so now who's out here tryna claim ASTROLOGY ain't real?!?!

Humans are just a star's way of making more stars.

The classic USC motto.

You're arguing Richard Dawkins is not hard-working, energetic, security-minded, and determined? Wow. Maybe read up on his work and then get back to me.

You’re arguing that Richard Dawkins claims ASTROLOGY is real?!?!

Richard Dawkin's Selfish Gene actually kind of argues that societal infrastructure (I forget the exact wording he used) may affect the various selection criteria that influence which genes get to reproduce. So a pro-eugenic society in which individuals are forced into a framework that monitors and encourages the archetypal like personality traits of astrology and breeding within that framework actually might make the whole darn thing come true. Malcom Gladwell inadvertently makes a similar case in Outliers in which he discusses how things like names and birthdates can influence your occupation or opportunities to gain experience; Like being born just after the cutoff for schooling or little league sports teams, so that you're working with the privilege of extra months of development compared to your peers.

He also in that book introduced the concept of memes, a mental equivalent to genes, where an idea could take over, or at least subvert, a host mind for the purpose of its own transmission. Astrology as a meme could therefore induce its host into behaving according to its model in order to validate itself and hence spread itself to other minds.

I'd even say that astrology as a meme already does influence behaviors, just probably not at the threshold necessary to be a deciding factor in gene selection. Whereas as capitalism as a meme, almost assuredly does.

We know what astrology is:

If you know your birth time, you may be interested in a full Solar Return Yearly Forecast Reports for $4.95 US.

So astrology is basically credit reports without the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
