Baltimore State’s Attorney will no longer prosecute marijuana possession cases

quote [ Six years after Maryland legalized medical marijuana, Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby has announced her office will no longer be prosecuting any cases brought for marijuana possession.

Though possession and use for marijuana without state medical clearance is still illegal in Baltimore, Mosby said she will no longer be pursuing convictions against those arrested for it, regardless of quantity of marijuana involved or a person's prior criminal record.

Prosecuting such cases has "no public safety value, disproportionately impacts communities of color and erodes public trust and is a costly and counterproductive use of limited resources" ]

Good on her - she seems to know full decrim is on the way

So far in California, none of the "nightmare scenarios" that the keep it illegal crowd was screaming about have come true. No long wait times, no shortages, no too-high to afford prices. So - don't let people start that "shit just is going to not work" stuff with you all out there. Here in California, its been going OK.

I just want to be able to grow my own and try different strains so I have a general idea of what to expect from what I'm taking. Random bag of tachycardia is fun and all, but a reliable selection would be nice.

It's nice to be able to grow 5 plants for personal use now. That might make a good SE project for me this year. I'm planning on doing some experimenting with growing some different sensamilla strains in the small urban farm in my back yard, and that has graphic-posting written all over it.

I'd upmod it. ;)

I'm always afraid that the state's who moved to legalize earliest will screw over those who have already been arrested by having used up all political capital for legalization and not push for retroactive forgiveness.

Has their been any movement in California on that?

Oregon still has power, dogs and cats are not sleeping together, no horrible weather epidemics involving frogs or locusts. And you can find dispensaries as easily as liquor stores.

Yet another example for Kamala Harris fans who claim that state's attorneys don't set policy and have to just enforce it no matter what.

A president with regard for the law is actually sounding kinda refreshing at this point.

There is not a doubt in my mind that there are plenty of Democrats who would find a "Law and Order" candidate appealing.
